Creative Expressions
The Art and Craft Program at the Paul Myatt Community Centre provides people supported by BigDog Support Services with a welcoming and creative space where they can explore their imagination, learn new skills and enjoy time with others. The program encourages everyone to participate at their own level, whether they are experienced artists or simply discovering the enjoyment of art and craft for the first time.
Participants have the opportunity to take part in a variety of creative activities, including painting, drawing, colouring, decorating, craft projects, seasonal activities and making handmade items. These activities can be adapted to suit individual abilities, interests and support needs, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to experience success and take pride in what they create.
Art and craft provide much more than an enjoyable way to spend the day. Creative activities can help develop fine motor skills, concentration, confidence, communication and decision-making, while providing opportunities for participants to express themselves in their own unique way. Completing a project can also create a wonderful sense of achievement and encourage participants to try something new.
